Family Advisory Committee





Are you currently receiving services from The Family Place, or participated in a program in the last two years?

Use your experience and expertise as a parent or caregiver to help build the bridge between The Family Place at the wider community. 

The Family Place ’s Family Advisory Committee (FAC) is a group of engaged parents, grandparents, and guardians with the mission of informing The Family Place’s programs’ designs and services based on their expertise as caregivers and community members. We also provide FAC members with training to help build skills in leadership, communication, and advocacy.

We are currently looking for new members!

We have two Information Sessions coming up in May: Learn more about the opportunity to join and hear from a current Committee Member!

More Information About FAC:

We meet once per month to conduct business and hold quarterly socials for the group with and without children.  All members receive compensation for attending monthly meetings and we offer support for childcare and transportation as needed.

The FAC plays a leading role in developing and promoting new and/or existing events to support The Family Place’s active presence in the community, provides a platform to elevate the voice of all caregivers and offers the opportunity to build leadership skills to support a fair and diverse community for families with young children.

Past Activities and Accomplishments:

  • Assisted in organizing our annual Gingerbread Festival
  • Contributed to the planning of the Week of the Young Child (WOYC) Programming
  • Participated in focus groups for organizations such as Vermont Department of Health and the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Community Health Survey
  • Established a new drop-in time for families called Open Hours (link to open hours page). This is held at The Family Place in our Playroom, but is operated entirely by FAC members.

Upcoming Activities:

  • Advocacy 101 Training scheduled for May 2025

* All Vermont Parent-Child Centers have committees that encourage parents and caregivers to share their perspectives to inform program development. The Family Place follows a state model for success!
