News and Events

Most in-person services and operations of The Family Place have been suspended during the coronavirus crisis, and we are continuing most work by phone, email, video and other virtual means. We will resume some in-person programming starting on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 (learn more here). We want to reassure everyone that we are here for families, actively supporting and providing services during these uncertain times. Please continue to reach out to us with your and your families’ needs. Important updates to our services and operations:

• CIS Early Intervention and Family Support: Home visits and appointments with clients on-site are suspended until further notice. Home visitors are connecting with all families by phone and services continue through tele-health platforms.
• Child Care Center: With new guidance from the state, our Child Care Center will reopen on June 16, 2020 (learn more here).
• Child Care Financial Assistance Program (also known as child care subsidy) and Child Care Referral: At this time applications for child care assistance are being accepted from essential workers only. If you are not an essential worker, please apply when the Vermont child care programs open again to all families. Families can call 802-649-3268, extension 104, to speak to a specialist; applications can still be mailed or delivered (to the dropbox) outside our main office.
• Child Advocacy Centers and the Windsor County Unit for Special Investigations: Our CACs and SIU have suspended in-person activities, including interviews; staff will continue to support families and develop tele-forensic interviewing practices.
• DULCE and DHMC Pediatric Partnerships: We are suspending our on-site presence and maintaining contact with clinic staff and supporting families by phone and tele-health.
• Families Learning Together Program: Some in-person programming will resume starting on Tuesday, June 16, 2020. Most activities will continue virtually, including online learning (earning high school credits), mental health support, and parenting support, and attending a virtual “homeroom.”
• Brain Lab: Our interactive parent-child education group, Brain Lab, will have online gatherings through Zoom; additionally, a Facebook group keeps Brain Lab families connected and shares ideas for at-home activities with infants and toddlers.
• Mental Health Counseling: Services have transitioned to tele-health sessions and we are offering phone check-ins with clients.
• Playgroups: Playgroups will remain canceled until further notice. Join us for virtual fun and socialization with our new Facebook group for playgroup families, TFP Playgroup at Home, and join us on Mondays and Friday for a virtual playgroup on Zoom.
• Our community partnerships and collaborations will continue on a regular schedule, using virtual meeting technology.
